Zugzwang

How to play Zugzwang

20 lines, 3 or more matching symbols from the left pay. The chequer tile is wild on reels 2, 3 and 4. 3, 4 or 5 chess-clock flags pay anywhere and start the Endgame. A white pawn that lands on the bottom row is not wild: it climbs one row at the start of every next spin (in the base game up to 3 respins, the other reels spin again), and when it reaches the top row it promotes.

Black pieces drop on the reels, pay nothing and break a line. A black piece that attacks the climbing pawn by its real chess move takes it: the knight jumps in an L, the bishop slides on diagonals, the rook on its row and column, the queen both (a slider is stopped by the first piece in its way; the red line shows the attack). Promotion: a pawn that reaches the top alive becomes a golden queen with a multiplier ×1, ×2, ×3, ×5, ×10, ×25 or ×50 drawn while the crown spins, and a direction drawn from five: left, right, straight down, down-left, down-right. She sweeps along that whole line to the edge of the board: every square she passes is wild for this spin only (scatters and other pawns are skipped, black pieces on the way are taken). A win through the queen or her path is multiplied by her value; two queens on one line multiply each other (the two highest count, at most ×250).

Endgame (free spins): 3 / 4 / 5 flags give 11 / 13 / 15 spins; one pawn already stands on the board, up to 4 pawns climb at once. Every promotion adds 1 spin, 3 / 4 / 5 flags during the bonus add 2 / 3 / 4 spins (at most 30 in all). The bonus can be bought for 100× the bet. The maximum win of a round is 5000× the bet. The RTP of the table in use is shown in the game info.
